Excerpt from a 1955 interview in SCIENTIFIC NEWS TODAY by Lucas Parkes

LUCAS PARKES: And what do you think the future of television and radio is in America?

FREDRICK HEMMLOR: Well, I think radio is on it's way out. Television is the new thing, right. Radio is fine for fluff like popular music, but television will dominate entertainment. Television will change entertainment, will change culture. It will change people.

LC: Interesting. Speaking of changing culture, let's talk a little about the Open Mind if you don't mind?

FH: Not at all.

LC: Tell me about the principles behind Open Mind.

FH: Well, first let me say that these days all our lives are growing more complicated, more stressful. Open Mind aims to minimize those complications, to ease those stresses. We strive to unclutter one's life.

LC: This seems like a very spiritual bent for someone so synonymous with science.

FH: Not at all. The methods we use have been tested in a very scientific ways. Now, we my not be able to pin point why they work, but at one time we didn't understand exactly why washing hands saved lives in surgery rooms.

LC: Can you tell me about some of the methods?

FH: Sorry Lucas, but that's privileged information, can't just be giving it out to anyone, right. If you really want to know, Open Mind's door are always open to you.
